As a former high school instructor and administrator, I have always viewed the beginning of a new school year as a time of opportunity; a chance for students to learn, grow, set new goals, and look ahead to what they can accomplish in the coming year.
As our Darien students return to their classrooms this fall, I encourage each of them to see this school year as a new chapter in their educational journey. Whether they are attending Hinsdale South, Downers Grove South, District 61, District 66, District 63, or Kingswood Academy, every new school year brings opportunities to build upon past successes, learn from past challenges, and set new goals for the future.
Success in education is not always measured by a grade or test score; it is also found in the efforts we make, the challenges we overcome, the lessons we learn from our mistakes, and the confidence we gain along the way. A new school year affords every student the opportunity to take another step forward.
Here in the City of Darien, our students are our future. Their educational growth and success will help shape the future of our community and our world. We are proud of their accomplishments, confident in their potential, and grateful to the teachers, administrators, parents, and families who support them each day.
