NATIONAL
TELECOMMUNICATOR’S WEEK
APRIL
11-17, 2010
WHEREAS,
emergencies can occur at anytime that require police, fire or emergency medical
services: and
WHEREAS, when
an emergency occurs, the prompt response of police officers, firefighters and
paramedics is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property;
and
WHEREAS,
Public Safety Dispatchers are the first contact our Residents have with
emergency services; and
WHEREAS,
Public Safety Dispatchers are the vital link for our police officers by
monitoring their activities, providing them information and insuring their
safety; and
WHEREAS, Public
Safety Dispatchers are more than a calm and reassuring voice at the other end
of the phone. They are the “unseen first
responders.” They are knowledgeable and
highly trained individuals who work closely with other police, fire and medical
personnel; and
WHEREAS,
Public Safety Dispatchers of the Darien Police Department have contributed
substantially to the apprehension of criminals and
WHEREAS, each
dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during
the performance of their job in the past year; and
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, KATHLEEN MOESLE WEAVER, Mayor of Darien, do hereby
proclaim the week of April 11 through 17th, 2010 to be National Public Safety
Telecommunicator’s Week in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism
keep our City and our resident’s safe.
