Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens’ Police Academy gives participants an opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of the Darien Police Department.

The program provides a unique learning experience. Officers and staff conduct training in their areas of their own expertise. Participants become aware of how the police department functions in the community.

The participants gain a practical view of policing and its complexity in these changing times. They obtain a new and informed understanding of the law enforcement profession.

Community-based policing is an important and vital aspect of crime control in a community. It is through community cooperation and planning that we can best ensure quality police services in an organized and effective crime prevention effort.
